While many people are shocked to hear it, I have written an entire book. The book is full of goat care tips. It’s my first book and for all three people out there in the world who live in a city and want to get goats, it is a MUST HAVE. It’s called, City Goats — the Goat Justice League’s Guide to Backyard Goat Keeping and it will be published by Skipstone Press and be on bookshelves in the fall of 2012. It has all the city goat keeping tips you could ever want including:
•how to set up a small goat yard that can keep your goats engaged and happy,
•how to build a state of the art urban goat shed,
•how to select a great city dairy goat,
•what to feed your goats at different points in their lives,
•how to breed your goat, help birth baby goats,
•how to teach your goat to behave on the milk stand,
•how to milk a goat, and
•how to make it fun and doable.
So, if you are really serious about getting dairy goats — buy my book. It’s informative, readable, not too gory, and fun.
The Goat Care tips listed in this section are brief, but they should give you some sense of what it takes to raise a few goats in a populated area. You may want to start with the first item in this section — Are goats for me?
